How to Close Out a Work Ticket in Sage 100 Production Management
Resolution
You can close out a work ticket in Sage 100 Production Management by processing a standalone Close transaction or by checking the Close box during a Completion entry.
Method 1: Close During a Completion Entry (Recommended if finishing remaining items)
- Navigate to Production Management > Main > Work Ticket Transaction Entry.
- Set the transaction type to Completion.
- Select the target work ticket.
- On the Lines tab, locate the Close checkbox and select it while entering the final completed quantity into inventory.
- Accept and save the entry.
- Run the Daily Work Ticket Reports/Update to post the transaction and close the work ticket.
Method 2: Create a Standalone Close Transaction (If no more inventory is being received)
- Navigate to Production Management > Main > Work Ticket Transaction Entry.
- Select Close from the transaction type drop-down menu.
- Select the specific work ticket you want to close.
- Leave the completion quantity at zero if you are not adding more finished items to stock.
- Accept and save the entry.
- Run the Daily Work Ticket Reports/Update to finalize the closure.
Note: Closing a work ticket clears any remaining costs from Work-In-Process (WIP) general ledger accounts, moves remaining balances to the default variance/scrap account, and prevents any further transactions from being posted to that ticket.
